As Care Practitioner and Head of Unit, I support high-quality dementia care through clinical tasks, staff supervision, and daily coordination. Working collaboratively with Registered Nurses’ guidance, I lead care delivery, support families, ensure safety and dignity, and promote best practices for residents with advanced dementia in a compassionate, person-centred environment.
Yes, I’ve developed key skills during the apprenticeship, including clinical knowledge, decision-making, and person-centred dementia care. I’ve grown in confidence with leadership, communication, and reflective practice. The course strengthened my ability to work autonomously within my role, while understanding when to seek support from Registered Nurses and the wider team.
I really enjoy the programme as it has expanded my knowledge and boosted my confidence in clinical practice. It’s rewarding to apply what I’ve learned directly to my role, especially in dementia care. The mix of academic learning and hands-on experience keeps me motivated and passionate about progressing in healthcare.
The programme is well-structured, with a good balance between academic learning and practical application. Modules are clearly laid out, and support is available when needed. The structure helps me stay focused and organised, and I find the progression of learning builds well on existing knowledge while introducing new, relevant skills.
I receive strong support from my employer throughout the programme. They provide time for study, opportunities to apply my learning in practice, and regular supervision. My managers and colleagues are encouraging and approachable, which helps me stay motivated and confident in developing my skills within my role as an Assistant Practitioner.
I receive consistent support from my training provider while working towards my qualifications. Tutors are approachable, provide timely feedback, and are available to answer questions or offer guidance. The learning materials are clear and accessible, and regular check-ins help me stay on track with both academic work and practical development.
The qualification has significantly enhanced my ability to perform in my role. The knowledge and skills gained through the training have improved my clinical practice, decision-making, and leadership abilities. It has provided me with a deeper understanding of care principles, allowing me to deliver more effective, person-centred care.
Yes, there are several extracurricular activities available at work. I have the opportunity to participate in leadership development workshops, team-building exercises, and clinical skills training sessions. These activities helped me develop both my leadership and management skills while also enhancing my clinical knowledge and ability to work collaboratively.
