My role is "Apprentice Manager" and this involves doing all the jobs of a store assistant such as replenishing stock and serving customers on the till. It also involves management tasks such as monitoring till operations, authorising refunds and being one of the safe key holders.
I believe that my customer service skills have developed and improved during this apprenticeship. My skills with handling money have improved as I've become more confident in handling the safe and it's contents.
I enjoy the programme, although the work is challenging, it's enjoyable and there's a good atmosphere in store. It's good to be part of a team that communicates well and works together efficiently.
I feel as though I am valued at Aldi and that as a member of the team I am treated with respect and as a valued member of the company.
The programme is well structured with regular visits from my college tutor to go through planned question sessions with me and also complete observations. The year is ended with exams. The questions, observations and exams all add up towards the qualification.
I receive the support needed from my training provider, with regular emails with updates on my progress and an online E-port folio that tracks my progress.
I receive all the support I need from my employer. If any problems arise I can take them to my manager or area manager with the confidence that it will be dealt with appropriately and fairly. I also receive regular performance reviews to see where I need to improve and what I'm doing well at.
My salary meets my costs well. The money that I receive on a monthly basis lasts the month easily.
Apart from other training programmes and opportunities to progress within the management ladder, there aren't many opportunities outside of work.
Yes
I would recommend Aldi to a friend as there is a positive work environment and it's a good, hard-working team to be a part of. You get the support you need and you are treated well by the company.
Hard work is required and there is always a job to be done. So make sure you're well rested before your shift.
