My role was to write, release, track and store colleague contracts (internally and externally). I also worked on general queries that came to me or our share inbox about the processes we ran, for example; onboarding, contract changes, referrals, long service awards and other odd jobs.
I have gained a better understanding of professionalism and communication skills in this role but I really developed my time management and overall behavior towards a business orientated role here resulting in better organisational skills.
The apprenticeship programmed was really well thought out and covered a lot of interesting topics that always found a way to link perfectly to my daily tasks and helped me to have a better understanding of the knowledge I'm learning and the tasks I was completing.
The structure flowed really well but I did have some issues with my tutors changing a few times so the order of tasks changed each time. Additionally the workload between the apprenticeship and the job could get a bit overwhelming and messy at times so I would have to ask for some more dedicated time to complete the task at hand but overall good.
I received a good amount of support from my employer throughout the apprenticeship; some had more specialised knowledge on one thing more than others. This really helped depending on the topic but it was also a rather fast paced job so you could not always ask for peoples time to help with things in the apprenticeship.
The training provided had a lot of pre-organised material on their hub site for learners that were really helpful and the virtual lessons that were done were very good for helping with your coursework, but due to the changing tutors it would be difficult to contact them to get support on topics sometimes. Additionally there were only a few practice tests available to learners before the actual exam and I think I would have benefitted from having more examples of the newer questions on the test.
I strongly believe that this qualification has definitely helped and allowed me to preform better in my role. It has massively developed the skills that I already have in a way that will continue to benefit me and the company in the future and it has also allowed me to have a more developed understanding of a workplace environment, desirable skills and appropriate workplace behavior.
There are plenty well advertised extra-curricular activities at work; we have a company charity football game in spring, bi-annual HR meetings, summer socials and a constantly updating in house training platform that has lots of free training for colleagues to learn new skills. I have been able to attending most of these and got to meet a lot of new people in different departments.
Yes
It is a brilliant company with some amazing people; they have a fantastic apprenticeship team that are always happy to help when they can. The management team are always trying their best to make sure you get the most out of your role and they are really good at helping you with your professional progression especially internally.
Some of the best advice I could give to other applying to Vertu Motors is to know and embody their brilliant core values, a good and effective team member in Vertu should have "Passion, Respect, Professionalism, Integrity, Recognition, Opportunity and Commitment". If you reflect these values the company will do the same to you.
