My daily tasks consist of completing the daily credit card reconciliation and the posting of the items on the previous days bank statement. I interact with most staff members daily and sometimes speak to external customers or suppliers. I am responsible for performing some of the month end tasks such as account reconciliations, deposit movement reconciliation and uploading these within a specific timeframe.
Most of the skills I've developed during my time on the apprenticeship are new knowledge to me as I went straight into the apprenticeship from leaving school and not been taught anything to do with accounting prior to this. The hands on learning at work helped me a lot to better understand my studies alongside.
I really enjoyed the fact the programme allowed me to gain hands on learning alongside the studies from a book as this helped me to get a better understanding of what being an accounts assistant was like. I also had a lot of support from people around me at work.
The programme was well structured in terms of the time I was allowed during work time to study and sit my exams. I had the support available at all times if i was struggling. My management organised and allowed the time for me to complete all my revision and studies in a way that helped me get the most out of my studies.
My employer provided a lot of support and help during my apprenticeship I never felt like I was alone in my studies and always had the help of my peers and management during the course. All the questions I had were answered and they helped me to understand any parts of the course I was struggling with. If I needed a bit of extra time studying before an exam it was always prioritised and the work was fit around me.
Kaplan provided a lot of support during the course of the apprenticeship including having a tutor that was dedicated to me who I could always contact if I was struggling with anything and he was prompt in his reply. The learning platform and material provided was very helpful for my studies too.
My qualification has helped me to perform better in my role by better understanding the reasoning and consequences behind the jobs we carry out every day. I had no knowledge of accounting entering the job so the combined mix of the hands on learning and the studies alongside really helped me kickstart my career in accounting.
There are many activities at work that I have been involved in since starting in my job role in 2021. There are social events within the dealership that I have enjoyed such as work nights out, Christmas parties and charity events. I have also took part in a development programme which allowed me to network with other people like me while also gaining new skills and knowledge.
Yes
I would recommend Vertu to anyone looking for an apprenticeship or a new job role as the whole team go above and beyond to support people and provide many opportunities for people to develop and improve. I have been provided with many opportunities since starting in my role to develop new skills and improve my knowledge on different areas.
I would just advise to show initiative and willingness to learn, Vertu Motors values employees who are eager to learn and grow within the company. Whether it’s through ongoing training or stepping up to take on new challenges, demonstrating that you're proactive and committed to professional development will work in your favor.
