Participating in and contributing towards the completion of the Project Management based responaibilities delegated to the team I am doing a placement in.
Each placement offers a variety of opportunities to learn new skils and develop exisiting ones, particularly surrounding Project Management and people skills
I enjoy the challenges the programme brings, the opportunities offered to me and the work I get to do, however feel that too many trainees are being taken on in my discipline; this is reducing the quality of the learning and experience we get throughout our scheme- often we feel like 'battery hens'
I feel BAE Systems appreciates our future value to the company. I feel like they show this through the time and money they invest in our development.
The programme is extremely well structures, however personally I feel that sometimes the rigourous structures and procresses we must undertake borders on over-the-top, and often distracts from the objectives of the scheme. The scturcture (eg placement plan/review forms, SMR's, the HA Process) could all be made a lot simpler and less time consuming/
Our college proclaims itself to be spportive, yet often their 'support' is token gesture, and very unhelpful. When facing problems I am not confident in my college's abillity to assist me or provide support. I would not like to ask for support as often their response has a patronising angle, if I have questions about work content.
The early careers team are extrememly supportive, whether this is when adressing work issues, educational issues, or even offering pastoral care and looking after the wellbeing of trainees
Not well at all. It is also frustrating how our counterparts in other business dvisions get paid significantly more, and do not seem to have to work as hard to acheive pay rises in SMR's as we do.
Yes, there are many stretch assignments on offer to us, that allow us to develop different skills, and contribute in different ways to the company and the community.
Yes
Despite a few problems, overall it is a good scheme with very good outcomes for those who participate in it.
Show an interest in the company, and the product the company builds, even if your area does not directly concern this.
