My role Involves shadowing maintenance works undertaken by RFLI technicians to repair damage to Elizabeth Line assets. I am responsible for gaining knowledge of how works are completed (tools used, systems to manage, procedures to follow). This often involves inspections and preventative maintenance.
I have learned loads of skills particularly related to maintaining effective communication with colleagues.
Very happy with the programme. The management structures at TFL are helpful for whenever I have struggles relating to shift patterns or training schedule.
It is the most organised program that I have experience with.
I receive all support I could expect from my employer.
The level of support I get from Intertrain is particularly accommodating. It is the best training provider I have ever used.
The courses provided by Intertrain help with all aspects of the role. They include courses related to government regulations, technical and theoretical knowledge, and knowledge specific to the area where I am being trained (signalling).
Yes, it is always nice to get involved with colleagues from the depot outside of work activities. We often go to the café in Plumstead.
Yes
The apprenticeships at Transport for London are good for anyone who doesn’t have much work experience like myself before I applied. They provide a strong career foundation.
Make the most out of your time as an apprentice. Try to take as many opportunities as possible for personal development and training.
