As an aircraft technician apprentice, I learn in the classroom for 1/3 of my apprenticeship and then the other 2/3 of the apprenticeship is learning on the job.
I have learned multiple new skills as well as improving my existing hand skills within the workshop such as, Wire locking, Jacking and Trestling the aircraft. I have also learned within the classroom about Gas turbine engines etc.
This apprenticeship is extremely enjoyable as I get to work on live and end of life aircraft such as a Jetstream, Bulldog, Allouette and an RB 211 Gas Turbine Engine which is amazing to be able to have the opportunity to work on all these different platforms.
Our learning in the classroom and on the job is extremely structured as we finish all our in the class training in the first 10 months of the apprenticeship, which include all the modules to be able to get our A License at the end of the apprenticeship.
I receive all the support that i would need, from both of my managers and my MRO if i ask for it.
We receive all the necessary support from our training provider.
We get all the information to be able to work on all different platforms of aircraft such as a Chinook and Apache Aircraft.
There are all different types of extra curricular activities that we would be able to partake in such as football and rugby through our learning provider (cardiff and vale college).
Yes
I would recommend this apprenticeship as there is a lot of fun to be had whilst living in cardiff.
Ensure that you have a revised CV as it is very difficult to get into Boeing and always be professional when talking to anyone from Boeing but they will always answer questions if you have any and are very happy to talk to anyone.
