In the first year, we are at college where we study for the A-License modules as well as doing some practical training in an unsheltered environment. In the second and third years, we are doing on the job training where we go out to our assigned base and get trained to do various tasks associated with being an Aircraft Maintenance Technician on the aircraft.
Throughout our time in college, we have developed many hand skills, whilst doing practical training, that we will use throughout the rest of our career such as how to use various tools and following LEAN principles. We also develop our team working skills by working in a sheltered environment with a group of people to perform tasks such as changing wheels and brakes, or replacing an air starter on a gas turbine engine.
So far, the programme has been very challenging yet very rewarding as well. The A-license modules are very challenging however the lecturers at college are very motivating and still make them very interesting and enjoyable whilst also sharing their wealth of knowledge which we can use when we start on OJT training.
Learning the theory for the A-license modules helps us to learn all the relevant theory that we can use in order to get the best understanding for our jobs.

All of the employees of Boeing are very supportive and will always help you to achieve your goals
The knowledge that you will learn, especially with the A-license course, can seem very overwhelming at first however everyone is there to support you through it and will help you in any way that they can.
