This involves shadowing and learning around different areas within BBC NI. These areas include post-production and news package editing, graphics, audio, cameras, vision mixing etc.
I have learnt new skills, such as using new software applications, including Photoshop, After Effects, Avid Media Composer. I have also learnt how to use the internal BBC systems provided through the Intranet, as well as developed existing skills, such as IT and communication skills.
I have enjoyed all aspects of my role so far in the areas I have shadowed in. I also enjoy meeting new people, as well as learning more about the organisation.
The programme has a good structure, however, it can be hard to know how to do certain tasks regarding log work, as well as answering questions correctly using the information provided.
I have recently received support from my employer, surrounding the balance between work, as well as course provider tasks.
I have recently received support from my course provider, surrounding the log work and the completion of assignments, which is a personal core focus.
I think the training I have received from the course provider has provided me with a good foundation of knowledge surrounding the various aspects of the industry. In addition, I have applied some of this knowledge in my role and hope to demonstrate this more throughout the course.
I have participated in a Christian Fellowship group within the BBC, in which we join weekly virtual meetings. This provides the opportunity to meet other people who share the same interests, as well as provide support to each other.
Yes
I think overall, the BBC provides excellent career progression.
Try your best and demonstrate your passion and ability, as well as knowledge. In addition, try to be a helpful person and have tolerance, as well as respect for everyone you meet.
