  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Running and supervising a small team for 2 service periods a day. I attend management and function meetings. I also run events like parties and formal dinners and I also supervise the mess bar. My shift is usually 6.00am until 1.30pm but this chances to suit business needs.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • During my apprenticeships I have learnt more about different leadership styles and skills and been able to incorporate this into my work. During workshops and doing knowledge bites I have learnt so much about this industry and it has really helped my understanding in the workplace.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Extremely well. I have knowledge bites to start with, then attend a workshop for that particular course and then will complete a small professional discussion at the end of it. I feel this really helps to withhold the information.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • A lot. I get my 7.5 hours a week as they gave me a Friday work from home day for my apprenticeship. They also put me into contact with other apprentices who have completed the course before and are always an email away if I need help.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • My tutor is absolutely incredible! She works hard to make sure I meet appropriate deadlines and makes sure to challenge me in my work to better myself. She makes meetings relaxed and fun and I don't get made to feel pressured when deadlines are approaching. I could not wish for a better tutor.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I feel my qualification gives me a better understanding the wider view of the company. When I first started here I was just a customer service assistant and didn't understand the ins and outs of the business or the impact small mistakes could make. Now I work hard to ensure little mistakes are made as I know the business could potentially suffer for it. I am also able to take new skills I have learnt and put them into my work.
