My role involves designing and delivering solutions that meet customer needs in the area of data centers. These solutions cover uninterruptible power supply units, power distribution units, racks/enclosures cooling systems and monitoring software. In my team, one of the responsibilities I have is to make sure all projects being worked on by each member are put into a central data file and updated once ready to pass onto the next team.
So far in this role, I have started developing project management skills and I have been able to further develop customer facing skills.
It has been good so far, I have enjoyed the varied opportunities it has provided and the team I'm a part of is great too! There is also a solid support system for apprentices.
I would say it is well thought out and structured, based on the system in place for apprentices from the moment they start until completion.
Support has been more than adequate, I have a workplace mentor too who has played a big part in my learning on the job and general support.
The support from my training provider has been great. The university has extra support in place for students if help is needed with studies, organization, welfare etc...
There are some elements of the theory I am learning that directly give me a better understanding of some of the technology and solutions we provide to customers. In that sense, it has been beneficial.
There are plenty of activities! For example, I am a member of the apprentice committee, we plan social events throughout the year for apprentices in the UK to engage in.
