Stripping, rebuilding, and fitting mechanical plant and equipment onsite and in the workshop.
Yes, I have learnt a lot of basic mechanical skills as well as site specific skills.
I enjoy being at work and gaining new skills, the people I work with are great and provide me with the support I need.
I have all the information I need at all times, my HETA mentor and work manager are only an email away. I feel as though the structure is good and I have progressed through the program well.
My employer have helped and guided me through my programme, the technicians I work with are great and allow me to get involved. My manager and supervisor often set meetings to talk about how I am doing.
My HETA mentor has been great throughout the programme. He made sure I had everything I needed, set deadlines which I could meet, and made sure all my work was up to standard.
The initial training at HETA was very basic and not very relevant to where I work, however it allowed me to get used to being in a work environment and have a go at using tools and equipment.
I have attended several events with my work, mainly to schools and local communities to talk about what we do and the opportunities for young people.
Yes
Great company to work for, flexible and good benefits. SSE is also a growing company with different sectors across the UK, so plenty of opportunities.
Research the company, show willingness, be yourself!
