As a Scholarship Intern at EY I have been given lots of opportunities to contribute and often have valuable exposure to senior people such as directors and partners. During my 3-week placement I rotated around 3 different projects, which was a great introduction to my time here at EY.
Developed my networking skills, being in a firm which has a big focus on people. Most days are quite busy and so time management has been important, especially when there are lots of meetings, events and deadlines.
As an intern, I was given quite a significant amount of responsibility which was really great and gave me the chance to take on some challenges. The culture at EY is very friendly, everyone is always willing to help you. Really enjoyed my placement this year.
All my managers have really made me feel valued and part of the team, with real responsibility and work from day one. I was given regular feedback and was recognised for the work that I had done. During induction, we were given training for IT and also other work skills with presentations, working as part of a team etc.
Induction was well organised and very enjoyable, and we were informed of all the departments/managers we would be working with for our 3 weeks. Evening socials were organised which gave us the opportunity to get to know the other scholars on the programme, as well as our buddies and counsellors.
We have a very good support network at EY, with a buddy and a counsellor who we can speak to if there's any problems or we need help with something work-related, as well as a point of contact within the programme for other welfare things.
Our placement is paid, and we are also provided accommodation along with all the other scholars in private student accommodation in London, about 40 mins walk from the office which was really convenient. We're also given a bursary for uni.
We had a social in the first week to get to know all the other scholars, as well as a School Leavers/Scholars after work drinks one evening, and a end of year placement dinner celebration. I also had lunch with my buddy and had coffee meetings with people in the firm. There are lots of networks that we can join at EY and.
