  • I am approached for my technical and data knowledge to support business understanding of the context, rules or definitions of the data we hold. Increase data quality and enforce data governance, classify data into security bands and work on projects. Ad-hoc reporting and data anlysis.

  • Developed SQL and Project Management skills. New skills: Python Statistics Artificial Intelligence (AI) Machine Learning The AI Landscape and possible future British Values and Safeguarding

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I am on the level 7 Data Science and Artificial Apprenticeship. When anyone ask me this question is always answer, "It's hard, but good fun!" I enjoy the support from the Cambridge Spark coach and mentor. The modules are broken down into 4 hour lectures every week.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • We use EDUKATE.AI and Aptem, the platform is great for learning, coding and collaborating. It scores you and tracks your progress and light system so you know what is outstanding and done. The modules flow nicely from one to another while learning.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I get one day per week to focus on my apprenticeship. My employer fully supports this so I have no meetings or interruptions which makes my work-life balance just right.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Excellent lecturers and tutors, they really know their stuff! A great coach to keep me on track with my admin and progress. A great data mentor to help with any technical queries. Extra optional sessions to learn about other industries and how they have used their new skills.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • This supports my current role in a few aspects and grows my opportunities to solve business problems with new skills. Plus sets me up in a career sideways move into Data Science.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Loads in the Partnership, we have networks from beliefs to working parents. Sports from kyaking and skiing to go kart racing and loads of social activities in our team.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • The work-life balance is amazing! The benefits are vast and amazing like our private estates scattered around the UK. The culture is nice, welcoming and warm. It fits around my home life as a dad to two young boys and wife.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to John Lewis Partnership?
  • Be authentic, kind and respectful. Get to know our purpose and values and our constitution of the JL Partnership; it's what makes us unique in the retail world.
