I run all the reporting for the accounts receivable team at premier foods. This includes analysing data, producing daily, weekly and monthly reports. Providing month end reconciliations and balance sheet PowerPoints. I also answer technical queries from the team for different systems we use as my team are like the go to internal IT team within AR.
I have developed my existing excel skills and learnt new formulas and features within excel which have allowed me to improve my day to day reporting. I learnt all about power query and power BI as I had never used them before, which was quite interesting and I learnt a lot about the theory behind data.
I enjoyed the modules where we worked on excel and power query as I like working on excel and I enjoy learning new things within excel. The theory modules were good to know, but I was more focused on diving into excel and testing my skills. I enjoyed applying these skills to my day to day reports.
My apprenticeship was well structured and we had a plan and a lot of communication between myself and the data mentor & my tutor. We had regular meetings to see how I was getting on and their system was very structured with the modules on so I knew which modules I had completed and which ones were due for completion.
I received a lot of support from my team leader and we had regular catch ups to check if I needed further support with my day to day tasks, if I needed to spend more time on my apprenticeship work. My team leader also helped me with my written portfolio and offered to help me revise for my exam by asking me questions about my portfolio.
I received support from my data mentor when writing up my portfolio, he helped me a lot when I had queries or if I was stuck writing certain parts. My tutor helped me if I had any questions regarding the working modules or if I wanted to know what was next on the agenda.
I feel like the apprenticeship has helped me gain more confidence within excel mainly as I now have more knowledge within excel and data itself. I have already improved within my role by amending reports that I currently run with formulas that I learnt on the apprenticeship. I am more confident when analysing data and know what to look out for.
We have a lot of teams at work for different inclusivity and diversity groups and I have the option to join any of these.
Yes
Premier Foods is a great place to work, we have a really good team who work well together. It is a comfortable place to work and they show their company values and really believe in them.
I would tell them to apply to Accounts Receivable as we are the best team
