  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • In my 3rd year role I am working as a finance and commercial partner to the Newcastle Siemens wind power training center, the wind power and power generation apprentices and the wind power travelling technicians. My role involves analysis of spend within the cost centers, monitoring and reporting on utilization, forecasting on a monthly basis, budget preparation etc.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I now work with a range of different areas of the business which has helped me to develop my communication skills. I have also been given a lot more responsibility in this placement, increasing my confidence and giving me a wider knowledge of the finance function.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoy being a Siemens finance and commercial student. I have felt supported by my manager throughout my time on the scheme. Siemens has opened up many opportunities for me and I know I made the right choice choosing an apprenticeship as opposed to university.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Siemens?
  • Siemens make me feel extremely valued and supported by offering me courses and qualifications to develop my professional and personal skills. I feel like I have always got somewhere to turn if I am struggling with anything both inside and outside of work.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme is fairly structured and organized, students are always given the help they require.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • Since starting with Siemens I have enjoyed completing my CIMA qualification through BPP. I feel the tutors have a vested interest in their students, they are always more than happy to help. The Newcastle tutors make the learning interesting and fun. BPP have always been extremely helpful when I have contacted them with queries or issues.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Siemens have always been extremely supportive of me. I get immediate help with any problems/queries I have and always feel comfortable approaching members of management or other employees in the team to ask for help.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • I think my salary and package is a good level to be at for my age and helps me live a lovely life!

  • I am unsure about opportunities outside of work as I haven't looked.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • Siemens is a great company to work for, it is diverse, fast changing and exciting. All of Siemen's employees are hard working and team work is massively encouraged. I really enjoy working for Siemens as a company.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Siemens?
  • I would recommend people to apply for not only the Siemens finance and commercial academy, but other areas inside Siemens.
