My role as a Trainee Estimator is to assist the pricing lead on tenders in Scotland/North. My day to day role is incredibly varied as I work within bid teams, often within different sectors of the construction industry. I often undertake measurement exercises, market testing and reconciliation exercises on live tenders.
My skills have grown hugely since joining LOR, mainly my construction technology and communication; also my IT skills have improved a lot due to the in house training modules in place.
I enjoy my programme a lot as I have a good support network from my current team and a mentor away from my day to day role. I enjoy learning new things which I am doing daily and also enjoy the modules in place through the cadet programme.
The whole business is aware of the cadet/graduate programmes and most are willing to invest time into your learning to improve the future of the business. In the main, most people who I have worked with have invested a lot of time into my development.
Within my programme I have a Line manager, HR Rep and a mentor; on top of this I have outstanding day to day support within my team. I also have training modules to improve my other skills such as leadership, teamwork, business sense ect. These modules are testing although after every module I have come away with new/improved skills.
LOR are the training provider (see below).
As mentioned above, I receive a lot of support from all levels of the business and have had the opportunity to work on tenders all over the UK.
The salary is what I believe to industry average, although within univeristy there are other contractors offering a higher salary. I believe the overall package including the modules offer more than the extra salary.
Within work we have team get togethers.
