My role as a Funeral Arranger involves receiving Clients and establishing their needs. Arranging visiting of the deceased and ensuring all the Clients requirements are met. Realising the opportunity to promote our products and services however with a very sensitive approach. Inputting all funeral details onto our computer system ensuring all details are correct. Control of Petty Cash and dealing with all aspects of bank payments and inputting, once again, accurately on the system. I encourage feedback from the Client when appropriate as this does help us to improve our service and standard of quality we provide. I carry out Housekeeping duties of the Funeral Home and report any maintenace requirements to my Manager. I check that all Health & Safety procedures are carried out particularly when dealing with the deceased e.g. moving the deceased by means of a trolley within the Funeral Home for Clients to visit. I keep up-to-date with what is happening within the community and being part of any community work does help promote our business and Funeral Home in the area.
Each day within the Funeral Home is a learning curve and only recently I was shown a procedure relating to a deceased and now feel confident to be able to carry this out, if required, in the future. I make myself aware of any new procedures that are to be implemented to ensure that all our standards and services are first class.
From day one I embraced the NVQ programme as I knew it would enable me to have more knowledge of my role as a Funeral Arranger and enable me to carry out my work with a more confident understanding of the job. Which in turn was beneficial to myself and my families.
Very valued, the motivation, time and encouragement in carrying out the NVQ qualification was always readily available from my Managers and colleagues also. This I found very encouraging throughout the whole process.
From the onset everything was clearly explained and how the programme would develop in the coming months. Each visit I was made aware of what was expected for each session. Updated information was always provided by my Trainer and Management.
My Training Provider was so approachable, encouraging and always readily available to answer any queries via email or phone. He made each session so worthwhile and his support and motivation was amazing.
Support was always there for me by the Coop they were encouraging and keen to enrol me on the programme and made me fully aware of the benefits of gaining this qualification.
I am able to manage on my salary and with my job share it enables me to have extra hours when required for holiday cover. Also the availablity of our employee membership scheme enables us to have the benefit of discounts on many products.
I try and take opportunities outside of work and my role as Funeral Arranger and enjoy participating in what comes along. I think that it is important to do so.
Yes
We are all a team at the Co-op, every job plays an important role and we are always their for one another, encouraging our fellow colleagues and supporting one another with all the 'highs and lows' that may arise.
My job as a Funeral Arranger is one of the most fulfilling jobs I have done and the job satisfaction and the gratitude you receive from our lovely families, who are in a really bad place, is the most rewarding feeling ever. I wish I had done it years ago! I would encourage whole-heartedly my role and that of our Company.
