I work on site as a Quantity Surveyor, on a day to day basis I manage multiple Subcontractr packages with a varied range of value. I am also looking after the Allocation of all labour on the project, which can be challenging when you have over 100 men every day.
When I fist started with Laing O'Rourke I had no idea what to expect, ive grew myself as a professional within the industry. My communication skiils have increased dramatically now I'm interacting with people from all ages and backgrounds on a daily basis. I have also grown more self confidence whilst ive been with Laing O'Rourke which has not only helped me develop in work but also helped me outside of work.
I find the programme great, the first few years the programme is more about team building, and the modules you go on are fun yet very valuable to people who have just joined the company. The later years are more structured towards the business and the professional side, which is more serious yet still enjoyable.
Very, Laing O'Rourke are not only helpful with work but they also support you with University. at first i struggled with it but once i knew i had that support then my grades have improved to more than what i thought i was ever capable of.
Programme is very well structured, over the 5 years that the programme runs they take you on numerous modules & Site visits.
Lots, once you know the people to contact you are able to do anything.

personally its fine, obviously the first few months when i started i struggled with a massive lump of money to manage it for more than 2 weeks of the month.
To help Laing O'Rourke? Theres quite a few with voulenteering days, some to go towards the project and some you can do personally.
Yes
I think its a great course to be part of, with a fantastic way of gaining a degree and gainging expereince in a massive industry where the oppertunities are endless.
Honestly? just be yourself. what ive learnt from the period between starting and now is that the best thing to do is be ope and honest with everyone you meet. always do research about the company first, make sure that the ethics that Laing O'Roruke believe in are the correct ones for you.
