My Role is an Area field manager for a service and Install team, Daily tasks consist of making sure things run smoothley for our employees and making sure our customers receive the best service possible. I also play a huge role in training and developing our engineers to help enhance their skills.
I am working towards an award in management and the course work i have been provided has helped me gain an understanding of what a managers role is and what i need to do to be as effective as possible, making sure all objectives are SMART, weather that be objectives i set myself or others.
i have been working in this industry for many year but being on this programme has improved the way i am able to carry out my job, it has given me new confidence and the feeling that i am making a positive contribution to help my company drive forward and stay ahead of the compition.
I feel very valued by Virgin Media, i have regular review with my manager who fills me with confidence, encouragement, gives me that feeling of being wanted and being an important part of the company, my objectives are always challanging but fair and i have a clear direction of what i need to achieve
although a new programme i have to say i have been impressed with the content of the course, it has been well organised, i have been given clear direction to what is required by my manager, regular 1-1's with full reviews.
support is always at hand, we have various apprentice managers that all offer support, always happy to help, never at any point did I feel alone or worried about the course. as well as apprentice managers I find the head of apprenticeships at Virgin Media very approachable and willing to pass on his knowledge
Head of apprenticeship, line manager and various other apprentice managers and trainers have been a huge help, always guided me if i had any issues and always on hand to quash any concerns i may have
my salary is the same as those living in other areas of the country where living costs my not be as high as London, so this will be the only negative thing i can think of,
the opportunities are sometimes endless, we participate in charity events, team building events, community days, we have had a football 5 a side team outside working hours that have been a success, really pleased with all these.
