I am a Field engineer for Virgin Media. I work on my own and I install and service all the core products which are Telephones, Broadband and TV. On a normal working day I meet up to 14 customers and help to diagnose and fix their faults with any of the three products. I would check all the customers internal cabling and connections and externally. I also deal with the green cabinets on the street, they are where the customers services are being served from.
In this role the biggest skills that I have picked up which are most helpful are; Time managment, face to face customer skills, fault finding and keeping your work space tidy. All these elements are benefical to work life and personal life.
The Apprenticeship programme was very good. They balance the work really well and you constantly feel like part of a team. Virgin Media look after you relaly well during the whole process and theres always someone to call for assistance if you need it.
Virgin Media do alot of awards and recongnition within the company which always keeps you motivated and keen to do well. When you do good work all the managers and customers pick up on it and you most certainly get rewarded for that. I felt really valued as part of the apprenticeship team which made the apprenticeship that more exciting.
The programme worked really well and came together. All the training we recivied was top notch and I would recommend friends to give it a go.
I recivied alot of support from my training provider and I never felt I had noone to turn to for support. If you had any issues all you had to do was voice them and it would get sorted as soon as possible.
My Apprenticeship manager was excellent and always on the ball. He was always making sure that everyone was doing ok and keeping on top of their work. He was always easy to contact if I had any issues and would jumo to lend a hand.
The salary is excellent. The starting salary for the apprenticeship is above average and it saw me through the year with no problems. And also with the incentive early payrise it made to experience alot better.
There is always team events going on all the time. We did servral activities outside of work which are all really fun and allows everyone to relax and no think about the work enviroment.
Yes
Virgin Media is excellent alround and I think everyone would enjoy it.
The best advice I could give would be, just be yourself and do not try to over sell yourself because they know when you are.
