First year full-time at Warwickshire College doing foundation degree and NVQs etc. Holiday periods spent in plant learning main job role. Second year day-release to college to finish foundation degree, rest of time at work. Third to Sixth years at Warwick Uni on block release, rest of time working. Work involves many placements around the business, experiencing many areas and networking well. Good opportunities.
So many, academic and practical. Foundation degree, BEng degree, NVQs Level 2, 3 and 4. All sorts of internal and external training courses available. And work-related skills too.
It is hard work keeping up with the academic work while doing your job role, but it is worth it for a fully funded education while being paid and getting 6 years of work experience. I enjoy my day-to-day work, it's varied and interesting.
Fairly well-valued. It depends on which department and manager you're under, but most see the value in apprentices and use your potential well. Some however see you as an obstacle. I've been recognised for the work I do and given many opportunities to prove myself and make a difference - it doesn't go unnoticed!
Organisation is sadly a little lacking. Overall, the apprenticeship's structure is fantastic - it has everything needed. Regular meetings with a training manager keep everything on track and allows feedback. But when it comes to day-to-day organisation it is let down a bit. Feedback can take a while, communication can be unclear and confusing. Sometimes feel a little forgotten about.
Plenty. As mentioned, feedback can take a little while but issues do get sorted eventually. If anything is needed they do try to accommodate.
This depends on which department and manager you're with, but in general any support needed is provided. HR and payroll were a little disorganised as we were the first batch of higher apprentices, but everything seems to be sorted now.
Very good salary, that increases every 6 months so long as you're on track with the programme. Especially considered all of the education is fully funded too. I'm halfway through the programme and already earning more than twice what I was earning in retail...
Depends on department, but most do have social events and teambuilding days offsite. There are many clubs and activities ran outside of work too.
Yes
Especially the higher apprenticeship programme. Fully funded degree (and other qualifications), great salary, 6 years of work experience. You'd be mad to pay to go to uni....
Take your time with the initial application and fill it out well. It's used a lot through the application process. Do your research on the company. Don't be shy during group tasks on assessment days!
