My current role as an apprentice field technician includes installing and servicing virgin media products and services, also i will be interacting and helping customers on a daily basis, to do these tasks i will be driving a Van to various locations.
I have learnt how do drive a van safely, i have also learnt how to correctly set up road work precautions following basic health and safety of the roads and the qualification i have received is: NRSWA Unit 2. I have also developed my skills in telecommunications on how to connect to various networks using cables and other equipment.
I am enjoying this programme very much as it has learnt me alot of new things that i didnt already know, also when being learnt new things for the job, the trainers have made it interesting and an enjoyable experience.
I feel very valued as an apprentice for virgin media because they reward you for your hard work, also they show that they trust you being able to work on your own after a short period of time.
The way the programme has been structured and organised is very good as it is not all crammed into a short period of time, it has been spaced out accordingly over a few months which gives me time to take everything in, and it also gives me time to study by allocating 1 study day a week for a couple of months to finish any written work that needs to be done.
I receive alot of support from managers and mentors that are training me because if i get stuck or dont understand something then i will ask them and they will explain it and break it down so i understand what i was stuck on.
I receive alot of support from managers with written work and how to organise my tasks on a daily basis and if i am unable to do something then they will take that into account and try sort it out.
The current salary that i am on meets all my costs as they have paid for living costs when i am working away from home.
There are various charity events that i could get involved with and various oppertunities to go work on days off to learn more off mentors.
Yes
Because it is a very good company to work for and that it values you as an employee.
I would advise others to enjoy every experience that virgin media will throw at them and not to stress on assesment days and upcoming events.
