My Role is currently: Access Planning Apprentice. My day to day tasks include things such as, planning routes for new cables, visiting sites to discuss new installs with customers, being out in the field checking the routes i have planned, engaging with contractors to ensure the job is done correctly. The other side of the job is writing up the instructions on exactly hwo the job is to be carried out, health and safety requirements, and ordering the equipment required to carry out the install start to finish.
I ahve learnt many new skilsl whilst being an Access Planning Apprentice. From map reading skills, to NRSWA requirements. The job requires a broad spectrum of skills and so i have honed all of this and improved to become more efficient overall.
I am finding the program to be very interesting and would definately recommend the role to others. The team are great and very helpful, the company are great to work for with some amazing benefits. They surpassed my expectatiosn as i knew this was a new apparenticeship, but they have executed it well!
My manager is very appreciative of any tasks complete and work done towards my qualification. Internally i am recognised for the work i have ocmpelted already. I have been involved in major Diversion works, which to me si recognition of how much i have learnt.
The structure of the program is still enw but still very organised and clear cut. The support i need is always there and questions always answered in the best way possible.
My training provider has been great. always supportive and suggesting new ways to improve and complete the learning i am here to do.
My employer has supported me the best way they can.
I think the Salary is just right for the job. It's good to know t here is a progressive route to increase this through skill learning. All travel costs are covered (apart from private mileage to and from work) Overall costs are very low and i have barely had to pay for anything from my own pocket.
Ther eare plenty of opportunities for work in other utilities for planners too. Especially in other countries such as Australuia and Canada if anyone is looking to emmigrate at any time!
Yes
they are a great company to work for. Offer extensive benefits and look after the staff as best as they can.
