Audit associate - going out to clients to audit doing various areas of testing. Speak with colleagues and clients and can be responsible for large section of a file.
Learnt lots of new skills, learnt general audit training such as the ISAS, and general accountancy knowledge through studying the AAT qualification. Learnt how and why we do certain tests that we do in audit to gain understanding of why I am doing the work that I am doing.
I feel that the programme allows me to study and work at the same time, to get the best of both experience in the workplace as well as a professional qualification. I really enjoy both my day to day job and my study time. I love working as part of different teams every week and having a variety of different work.
Constant appraisals from team members to update you on how you are doing, meetings with managers to allow you to talk about any issues/questions and to see how you are getting on. CLEARR points system to recognise when someone has achieved something that stands out from usual. High responsibility levels making me feel highly valued.
Very organised, attend college once a week and sit regular exams spaced out to ensure that I complete AAT levels 3 and 4 within my first 2 years of work.
Weekly tutoring, tutors available by email and are always willing to answer questions, ensure that everyone fully understands what they are doing and feel comfortable before sitting their exam. I enjoy my training days at Kaplan.
Support is always there if needed, managers always available to talk to, as well as any of the team members. Lots of departments such as HR and technology that can help you with specific requests.
Expenses cover travel costs therefore I feel that the salary is fair depending on the age/level you are working on.
Lots of teams to get involved in such as sports - football, netball, cricket. Lots of charity events to organise and get involved in, Grant Thornton allows time for you to set up charity work. Social club that hosts lots of events such as meals, bowling etc.
Yes
A really friendly, welcoming firm that allows you to study and work at the same time. Has work - life balance and the variety of work keeps the job interesting.
Main two departments to go down the school leaver route on are Audit and Tax - if you like change and travel, audit is definitely for you! Be yourself on all assessment days and interviews, Grant Thornton aren't trying to catch you out, they just want to get to know you and see what you'd be like around clients!
