My job title is kitchen sales design apprentice, however; on a day to day basis my role varies. I could be helping in the warehouse, serving on the counter, taking phone calls, going on kitchen measures & designing kitchens on the KAD system. The apprenticeship is enjoyable and because my day to day role varies this means I can get to know products better & ensures that more often than not I'm busy.
I have learnt numerous differentiating skill with my time at Howdens, in the short 3 months I have being here I have learnt how to use the KAD system efficiently, develop customer relationships, use the K8 system and all the product knowledge which comes with this. My communication skills have developed and I feel a lot more confident when dealing with people who I have not previously met.
I thoroughly enjoy working at Howdens, I enjoy the sector of work which I'm doing and I get on with the employees very well!
At Howdens all staff are treat equally regardless of gender, race ect. I feel as if I am a valued employee at Howdens even with my short 3 months here - I'm sure as the months go by I will continue to feel a valued employee.
The programme which I am undergoing is very well organized, I have a tutor who pops in at least once a month to monitor my progress & ensure that everything's running smoothly, phone calls for the training team and other employee's at Howdens who have ensure that my programme has run smoothly.
The training provider can account for the needs of the majority of individuals, on a personal note I feel as if I receive the sufficient support that I need which is not overly a lot as I feel that & my tutor feels that I have settled in very well and making the progress I need to succeed as an employee at Howdens.
I feel as if I receive the necessary support from my employer to flourish and succeed, the support I have received has been great and I'm sure it will continue to be so.
I understand that I am an apprentice but at 17/18 years old I think £110 a week isn't enough as on a personal note I am spending more than that.
It all depends on which route an individual opts for. Sixth form is a good alternative to an apprenticeship but for me, sixth form wasn't ideal which is why I started looking for an apprenticeship and I believe I am rather fortunate finding a job at Howdens.
Yes
I would recommend Howdens Joinery to anyone as they have helped me fit in and have showed me what I need to do to succeed here in such a small space of time. Aside from the company been great and treating its staff very highly at Howdens Keighley I think that staff go the extra mile to help which is extremely evident.
There are numerous differentiating job roles at Howdens Joinery so 9 times out of 10 Howdens will be able to offer a job to an individual who is looking for that sector of work. Howdens like staff to be dedicated and motivated as it shows good initiative to get on with a chosen task. If you show keenness and you're willing to put the work in to learn the trade then Howdens could be exactly what you're looking for!
