My role is an assistant auditor which involves testing the balances in accounts that our clients put together to ensure they give a true and fair view enabling our firm to give an opinion about them in the audit report.
Yes I have learnt many new skills, I came in having no knowledge at all and have already passed some of the ACA exams which will enable me to have the ACA qualification under the ICAEW.
I enjoy the programme a lot, the company is very supportive and offers a lot of perks too. It has met my expectations however I didn't realise the length of hours you would be expected to work at such a young age going over the daily working hours and not being paid over time!!
Deloitte makes all employees feel valued and offers rewards when you achieve something out of the ordinary. We also go through appraisal meetings and you can be offered bonuses depending on performance.
The programme is very well structured and the teams are put together with good relevance of different skill levels. However, you can be put on many away jobs which isn't suitable around exam times.
I receive a fair amount of support from my training provider but not as much as the exams manager. Our exams manager Katie is really supportive and the go to person.
Our employers regularly offer support to anyone in need and there are many contacts available from HR and Mentors if you need that extra bit of coaching or are struggling with balancing work and home life.
Salary package is good considering we have no university debt and have come in with just A-Levels. However it is quite hard to manage the living costs in a large city having come from a small town and we would really benefit from over time when doing weekend stock counts etc.
Yes there are lots of opportunities outside of work whether that be sport, socials, a quick drink once a month on a Friday and a SEWCASS committee for the exams people.
Yes
They are a great place to work and are absolutely amazing to have on your CV! A big four company can be stressful but I guess it will all be worth it.
Be yourself, be enthusiastic and don't focus too much on what you think they want to hear. Deloitte really encourage a good work life balance and will be pleased to hear you have other hobbies outside of work!
