  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I work as part of the team of different clients. We work together to ensure that the financial statement prepared by the company are true and fair. I correspond with my clients daily and face to face conversation is a large proportion of my work.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt both soft and technical skills since I started at Deloitte. I have been given technical training in the form of the ACA professional qualification as well as developing softer skills such and communication and interviewing.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I thoroughly enjoy my apprenticeship programme and believe the professional is highly misunderstood. The perception of being stuck in an office and at a desk is not at all the case with Deloitte as you spend most of your time working as a team and corresponding with your clients! This is something i truly enjoy about the job!

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Deloitte?
  • In financial services, even students of the lowest grade are shown to be valued by senior managers and partners. There is no hierarchal split between colleagues which is something I believe to be particularly valuable!

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The structure of the programme is set out in advance and there is a good split between time spent in college and actual work experience. The split between this gives is an opportunity to apply to knowledge we have learnt in college to our work before we go back to develop our knowledge further which I believe helps to gain an understanding of the significance of our technical training.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • The tutors in our college are always on hand to help during college learning and in the lead up to exams, even out of hours. The level and quality of information we are given during our learning is high.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Within Deloitte each new starter is assigned a buddy and a mentor as a person you can turn to with any worries or questions. We also have a training provider who keeps us up to date with our college dates and ensures we are all happy and confident in the lead up to exams. In addition, we are given paid leave to attend college and paid study leave before most exams!

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • As a school leaver, the salary is lower than that of a graduate which is to be expected however in terms of the expectation difference between a school leaver and a graduate, the difference in pay is not justified. If a Brightstart were to relocate to start this job away from home I feel it would be a struggle to cover costs sufficiently.

    6/10

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • In the financial services department, there are many opportunities to attend social activities outside of work which is great fun! In addition, Deloitte hold annual Christmas parties and summer balls for the whole office and office drinks every month! This is a great opportunity to get to know others in the office and make friends and networks.

    10/10

  • 9. Would you recommend Deloitte to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Deloitte?
