The majority of my role involves being on site at a clients. I complete audit work which involves a lot of time having discussions with clients and requesting information.
The main skills that I have developed are communication and organisation. In addition to this I am currently working towards completing the ACA qualification.
I enjoy my job and the people that I work a lot. There are some issues with the scheme that I think should be addressed but it is encouraging that feedback in relation to the scheme is always appreciated.
I feel valued by Deloitte and I think this is mainly down to the team that I work in. Managers are always very positive and the first to give positive feedback and praise in addition to offering areas and options for development.
On of the major drawbacks with the scheme seems to be organisation around college dates. Quite often it is not very easy to find out well in advance when I will be in college. However, there is always someone to look into this. I think that consideration should be given to shortening the scheme from 5 years to 4.
The college I attend is Kaplan and I have never had any issues. Tutors are always available to spend additional time talking you through areas that you do not fully understand.
The Exams Manager in my office is very supportive and always makes herself available to discuss any issues or concerns. It is clear that she enjoys involving herself with the development of junior staff.
As I still live with my parents I have no issues with my salary meeting my costs. Deloitte offer a competitive salary with structured pay rises.
There are a lot of activities that are organised outside of work and these seem to come around very frequently. These usually consist of team meals or office drinks
Yes
I think Deloitte is a good place to work as there are clear routes for progression and always someone around that is willing to support your development.
I think it's definitely worthwhile to research the different service lines on offer to ensure you make the best decision on where you would be best suited. In addition, I think that being well prepared is one of the most important aspects of succeeding at an interview.
