I work as a HR Trainee. On a daily basis this includes me providing general support to the team, getting an overview of HR practises.
I have learned a huge amount of new skills and have definately developed on existing skills. There has been a range of challenges throughout my current first year, all of which have been a good experience.
I do overall enjoy the programme. There is a large variety of tasks to get involved in each day, and I get plenty of responsibility. Furthermore all placement managers I have worked for have been brilliant.
Very. The teams I have worked for are keen for me to learn as much as I can do, and the company gives me time to attend college to undertake further learning linked to my development.
I feel that the programme is really well organised. In my first year I undertake two 6 month placements. These placements have are pre agreed, already by the managers in my department. In my second and third year, however I have the autonomy to choose my placements, and rotate on a 3-4 monthly basis. This allows me to work around not just my department but some other business units to gain a wider business understanding.
I recieve brilliant support from my placement managers. I also recieve further support from the early careers department, who I know I can go to with any problems or concerns.
I recieve lots of support from my employer. The Trainee Programme is designed really well to enable me to gain a solid overview of my function and the wider business to a degree. College is company funded allowing me to gain a degree equivelent qualification which in my opinion is really important. Their is a lot of support for all apprentices, Trainees and Graduates within the early careers population and lots of opportunities for further learning and development.
Very well. I feel that in the area I live the salary package is very competitive especially for someone starting our their career with a relatively low level of experience.
Yes, the company also has "Stretch" assignments to get involved with, that allow Trainees and Graduates to work in teams on a range of projects. There is always also many social events to get involved with.
Yes
It is an interesting place to work, and probably one of the only companies with a strong order book for many years to come making it a secure company to work for.
Take the time to thoroughly research the careers and opportunities on offer to ensure you choose the right one, because their is so many opportunities on offer. Be prepared to spend time on your application and spend time planning for the interview, these are two crucial stages of application.
