Working with a trainee solicitor, this may possibly involve working with basic documents that the trainee needs completed or completing tasks that are specifically designed for work experience students, for example case studies.
I have developed my communication skills, meeting new teams and attempting to offer my free time to anyone who was in need of help. I have also learned how to scan documents and record information more effectively through preparing company reports etc.
The trainees were extremely nice and the majority of the work was a challenge when I felt as if I were a contributing member to the team.
I felt as though the trainees were very happy to have students doing simpler tasks and thus saving them time which could be of better use to them.
The programme has very well scheduled days which keep all of the students extremely occupied thus it was very difficult for us to become bored or lose concentration at any point.
The trainees would always find time at the start and end of the day in order to sit us down and inform us what work we had to do and how we could improve ourselves in great detail. They would also usually be available for help during the rest of the day.

This was an unpaid internship with the firm and thus the question of salary or payment is not relevant.
Due to the fact that the days were relatively short, 9-5, I had plenty of opportunities to involve myself in leisure activities, for example going to the gym or meeting friends. The firm also offered sporting activities such as hockey.

Pinsent Masons is a very friendly firm with a fantastically unique set up involving projects. It would be a thoroughly enjoyable experience for anyone wishing to study law to get the sense of teamwork that is present at the firm.
Make sure you are always enthusiastic and keen to get involved with work, a busier day is always more enjoyable and makes you feel more useful, thus giving you a more enriching and fulfilling week.
