My role is to shadow an associate in audit, and to complete tasks that he has set for me. This includes casting, and check listing documents for reliable and correct information. Also to see how he communicates in meetings, and discussing certain client projects. I also got the chance to visit the client, and experience the commute that audits take.
I have learnt many skills in core assurance, such as casting, checking information, marking it etc. I have therefore learnt many advanced vocabulary that audits use.
I enjoy the programme a lot because it is an honest insight week, which puts you in the office and on meetings, to get a real feel of how working life is, and the employees view on the company is.
At PwC I am treated very well, as I was introduced to the whole team and therefore the employees know that I am an intern. Everyone is friendly, and I have been well equipped and looked after by PwC.
The programme is well organised as we have been given a clear timetable on what we are doing each day and what to expect.
If I class who I am shadowing as my training provider, then I have received a lot of support.
I don’t receive any support other than my buddy that I am shadowing. However I have all the contact details if I do need to contact any one from the recruitment team.
I have not been told how much I am being paid, so therefore I am unaware of this.
There is a guide provided which lists many activities which we can do outside of work. As I have been provided with my own laptop, there are many programmes which I can go on and complete activities in my spare time.
Yes
It gives an honest insight into the day to day life in the office, by giving me the opportunity to shadow and listen to what other employees think of the office and company. Also because I am able to understand the work that audits do and what challenges they face. PwC have also equipped me well and made sure I am prepared and understand what I will be faced with in the week. Therefore I would recommend this programme to anyone interested in having a career in the financial services.
The only tip I would give is to make sure that they read the guide thoroughly, and remember to use the Webex at certain times. Also to make sure they keep themselves busy by completing activities when they do have spare time to use.
