I was in the audit department in the Birmingham office. I carried out the basic starter protocols of an audit and really look forward to carrying out more complex tests as my career progresses.
I have further developed my teamwork skills, communication skills and my independent organisational skills. During a stock take I also further developed my analytical skills.
I really enjoyed my time in the office with BDO. I was extremely busy so I was never bored. Everyone in the office was welcoming and all offered support for me. I feel as though the experience has been very beneficial for me.
I felt as though, from the first day in the office, that I was a valued employee of BDO. I was treated as the rest of the members of staff were treated and felt I was valued highly by the firm.
The induction days are very good as you are given a real insight into the firm and how the firm deals with its clients. was impressed by the protocols in place in terms of studying for exams and hours of work.
My training advisor was very busy throughout the 2 weeks however he was always there to support me if I needed to ask any questions and gave me excellent advice whenever I needed it.
I received a lot of support from my employer and was very impressed with how I was dealt with each day. I felt as though there was always someone who was willing to answer all of my questions.
I was not expecting to be paid for this work experience so that was an added bonus. Also I had all of my travel expenses paid for by the firm.
There are a lot of social events in which the majority of the firm get involved with, including international events such as the football tournament in Prague which was a recent event.

BDO will always support you and assist you in preparing for a career in accountancy. They offer a very important 2 week work experience programme and everyone at BDO were very nice.
Make sure you research a lot about the firm in preparation for the interviews, KNOW THE VALUES!!! Also be willing to work in a team and take the opportunities the firm will offer you.
