I learnt about the different departments in Pinsent Masons, including the Corporate, Banking & Restructuring, and Property departments. I was given research tasks and tasks based on case studies.
Yes, I have developed my attention to detail through the research tasks. The case study tasks and talking to trainee solicitors has helped to increase my knowledge of the law.
This was a highly enjoyable programme. The work was varied because it was about different areas of law and the work was very useful and interesting too.
I feel very valued by Pinsent Masons because the trainees spent time talking to me and were complementary when I produced good work. I felt very involved with the work too.
This programme is very well structured because it allows for the student undertaking it to experience lots of different departments within the firm.
I received lots of support from my training provider- Pinsent Masons- because the trainee solicitors who supervised the other work experience students and me gave us lots of guidance.
I was not employed so this question is not relevant to me. I received no payment for my work because it was voluntary work experience, so it would be inaccurate to state that Pinsent Masons were my "employer".
The salary/package did not meet my costs because it was unpaid, so I had to fund my train tickets myself. This was not a problem because the work experience was so interesting that it more than made-up for this.
The trainees told the other work experience students and me that there were plenty of social events organised with other departments, offices, and with clients outside of work to keep them occupied.
Yes
The work experience programme was very interesting and provided an extremely good insight into what life in a commercial law firm is like. The working environment was very pleasant too.
Others applying to Pinsent Masons should be prepared to spend a lot of time completing the application form, as this is very time-consuming due to the form being very long.
