I was a Summer School Intern at BDO and I helped out in a variety of different departments: I did some work in Tax, Business Services and Accounting, Business Development and In Audit. Although I was predominantly based in Audit.
It has enhanced my communications skills as I have met a variety of new people. It has bettered my IT proficiency as I have knowledge of how accounting Applications like APT work. It has improved upon my teamwork skills as we had a treasure hunt on the first day in London and my team won.
Everyone was very friendly and welcoming and the company as a whole had a very good atmosphere. The work was very interesting and enjoyable also.
Very valued everyone was very welcoming towards me and were very keen to help me out where possible, include me in going out to lunch etc. and trying to get me work so that I could get as much out of the experience as possible.
Very well organised I had a timetable so I knew exactly what I was doing each day and where to go etc. The induction was very enjoyable and it was good to meet people from the other offices as well.
I was part of a work experience programme so there was not training provider as such but the people at the office did provide me with very useful training
A lot my counselling manager [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyApprenticeship Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] was very helpful with any issues, so where all the other staff and they were all happy to help for any questions from: about the work to IT difficulties.
The programme allows for all of your travel expenses (up to £50) to be covered which was great as I got the fantastic work experience and there were no expenses to me
Yes there were various lunches that I had with the staff and they were very enjoyable as I got to know more about them and find out about how they got where they are to day.
Yes
Its a very friendly company which is supportive of all of its staff and is inclusive of anyone no matter whether you are a partner or an intern
Get as much out of the experience as you can as there is such a vast amount of opportunities and knowledge available to you. Be enthusiastic and enjoy it.
