I was a work experience student who has worked in different departments throughout the week such as corporate, engineering, property and litigation. I received daily presentations relating to a law career and my supervisors provided me excellent feedback. My daily tasks consist of legal research, drafting documents and proofreading solicitors' proposals.
I learnt better research techniques as the law involves heavy reading so I developed better eye for detail through long passages of text. Also my commercial awareness improved as I was given case scenarios to apply the law to suit the clients' needs.
I enjoy my programme to a great extent as I experienced legal tasks and observed how the work ethic is in a large corporate law firm. Also I made many friends on the programme who were very motivated as they were aspiring lawyers too!
The supervisors were very helpful and provided me with instructions on how to complete the tasks along with detailed feedback at the end. Also the Pinsent Masons staff were very friendly and made me feel part of the team which is a nice working atmosphere.
I received a timetable which very structured and it was well organised as Pinsent Masons staff acknowledged our needs. I had an induction, tour, IT training, law presentations and feedback sessions with my trainee solicitor who supervised me.
I received immense support from my supervisor (trainee solicitor) as they were very helpful by answering my enquiries in depth through their personal experience and gave me constructive feedback on my work to show areas which I could improve on.
