On my 'Business Insight Week' at PwC I worked within Corporate Compliance Services. In this position I worked alongside permanent employees to provide a service that deals with companies corporate tax returns. I also had the opportunity to meet a range of people from other department such as technology and assurance.
I particularly developed my interpersonal skills from regularly interacting with other employees of PwC and learnt to adapt to a business environment. I increased my knowledge of some of laws and requirements of businesses when dealing with their tax receipts as well as the financial accounts of a business on the whole.
I really enjoyed the programme, it gave me many opportunities to meet a great range of friendly people who were always willing to help. It far surpassed my expectations.
PwC made me feel valued during my placement, giving me duties and responsibilities right from the off. They put a large amount of trust in even their newest employees and work experience students.
The programme was very well organised; on day one, I was given a timetable of all the things I'd be doing during the week. There were times to work on individual assignments and times set for group meetings/events.
As part of the 'Business Insight Week' at PwC, you get an assigned 'buddy' to guide you through any problems you encounter and any work that you get that you don't fully understand.
The HR team and student recruitment team are often in contact with you over the course of your placement as well as before and after. They are easy to contact if you need any more information
The salary paid for this placement covers basic transport costs to and from the placement. There is also an allowance for transport costs for anything unexpected such as travel from the base office that wasn't covered in your contract.
There are a number of follow up events for those that have completed the 'Business Insight Week'. These include residential trips and further work experience.
