Currently my role as an apprentice is to gain as much knowledge and experience possible within the section I am on. This involves stripping, testing and assembling various parts of a train
So far during the apprenticeship I have learnt a number of new skills. The rate of learning is amazing, I'd never have thought I would have learnt so much over a short period of time. Existing skills I have developed include team work and communication skills. These are not only helpful at work but also on outside of work on a day to day basis
The programme I am currently on is amazing. I have enjoyed every part of it. It has its challenges but this contributes to enjoying the apprenticeship. It is a scheme I have already recommended to people and 8 will carry on recommending it to other too.
From the first day you feel part of the company. You realise what an important future you will have and how you will be shaping the future. You meet all the important people from the trainers to the managing directors. It is at this point you realise you are part of an amazing company with colleagues who are doing a fantastic job to ensure the service runs smoothly and improves for the future.
The programme is very well structured. From the first week you have receive a plan of the year ahead so you are able to see what work you will be carrying out at certain parts of the year. The plan shows the college dates as well as the annual leave dates which as you'd expect is very important
The training provider is very supportive. Support is present for you at all times whenever you need it. At no point have I felt I haven't got any support from anyone within the company.
The employer is providing support at all times. This is made clear from the start. If any additional support is needed this is provided too. All the trainers have many years experience and this helps greatly.
In terms of salary this is probably one of the best paid apprenticeships in the country. I am yet to come across one that pays such a good wage, along with the extra be efits such as free oyster and an excellent pension scheme.
The learning which takes place during the apprenticeship gives you the confidence to carry out work outside of work. Whether it is simple wiring or stripping/servicing a part on your car. You feel confident in what you have learnt and you are not afraid to make mistakes
Yes
It is a great company. It has many benefits to yourself and the company supports you at all times. They look after you as they value you and your contribution. A company like this is hard to comeby.
If a role within transport for London interests you then you should apply without hesitation. The company is well structure, has experienced staff and will support you every step of the way.
