My role is a fleet engineering apprentice, I am in a 3 year scheme with transport for London, day to day duties will include training, replacing components, installing components, etc.
I have leant many new skills while working with transport for London, I have learnt how the industry works within TFL, how to maintain, service and create components within different sections of the apprenticeship programme.
I enjoy the apprenticeship programme because it has given stability in my life as I am learning and also earning money while training so I have a good base for my future.
I feel very valued by transport for London, we are very looked after my our managers and trainers, always supporting us in anything we do inside or outside the company, especially when there are events
The programme is very well structured for what is it, we are never in the lurch or lost of what we have to do, we are always informed on what we are doing or where we are going next in the following stages of the programme
I received a lot of support from our training provider, they are always marking our work on time and if there is any feedback we receive it straight away. Also if there are any problems they are quick to answer
I receive a lot of support from the employer, our ,managers are always looking after me and others when we need help, especially very good at giving support to help us with the programme.
The salary was originally beyond what I expected, I have been able to manage a lot of my money with good purchases and being able to use salary to good use. The benefits package is amazing especially with the staff Oyster card
There are plenty of opportunity outside of work such as the annual railway challenges and the first aid challenges where apprentices from other companies comes together and work as teams,
Yes
It has given me such an outlook on life, especially in the Working industry as I have been able to learn so many new skills that I can apply in the business and when I am fully qualified
Revise for any tests that you may encounter, just be open minded in general, be approachable to any questions you may have as it could be the difference in getting the apprenticeship
