My job title is a trainee associate. Our role is to take part in the financial audit of companies and perform procedures which go towards the final opinion. These daily tasks consist of the following: testing of balances, performing substatative procedures, walk through of processes, collecting evidence for material balances, requesting confirmation on third parties, meeting with clients and asking questions.
My presentation skills have definitely improved. I have had to perform a few presentations during my time and from this practise, the way I present myself and the confidence I gained from this was a skill I learnt. I've also gained a lot of confidence during my time from the interaction with senior people at clients.
I mainly enjoy working with the people at EY. Everyone is so friendly which makes work so much easier. The company culture is the best I've experienced. EY focus a lot on their culture which I believe is fantastic. The only down side is the hours during busy season.
The feedback system gives lots of recognition.
The program is very well structured with exams fairly spread out over the 5 years. Training is always high quality.
We receive a lot of support, our Kaplan tutors are always available for any questions we have.
My costs are high as I have to flat share with a friend. It's quite challenging as obviously I'm young and on a low salary compared to people who have their own places. The salary would comfortably meet costs if I lived with my parents but unfortunately this isn't possible.
There's so much going on outside work such as football tournaments, dodgeball and all sorts of clubs.
