Worked in Emerging Markets in Asset Management. Attended many meetings with clients and also employees which gave an insight into investment managing. In the last week, we were given a research project which we had to present in front of many bankers and managing directors.
We learnt how to network and how to do an "elevator pitch". Through the project task we were given, I have developed analytical and research skills, as well as teamwork sills. I've learnt that paying attention to detail is vital in Investment Management. I also feel much more confident with speaking in public.
I very much enjoyed the programme. The work was challenging yet manageable and people were always willing to answer any questions that we had. We got to do many activities in the evening which ranged from rock climbing to going on the London eye, to even going to the London Metal Exchange. Meeting the other interns and forming friendships was one of the best parts. The programme exceeded my expectations by far - it was the best two weeks.
Very, the staff were very patient and they were always happy to answer all questions we had. We got treated as if we actually worked in J.P. Morgan and not like the students we were. Our line managers, especially, were very kind and did their best to make us feel comfortable.
The programme is exceptionally well planned with almost every minute planned out. Our team leader always took us where we needed to be and was always there if we needed any support. Our first couple of days gave us a real insight into J.P. Morgan and then the next couple of days gave us insights into the different areas of Banking.
A lot, they never got tired of helping us especially our team leader who was great. We always had access to support. I enjoyed the programme even more because I felt so valued and appreciated.
All our line managers, and even other staff, gave us their emails and let us know that we could contact them at any time which was very kind. We knew that even when we felt overwhelmed, there was always someone that we could talk to.
Everything was paid for including food, travel, living costs and all the activities. There was no salary because it was work experience, not a long placement.
A huge amount. We had many fun activities and also informative sessions - all which were very rewarding. My favourite was socialising with the other interns and sharing our experiences.
Yes
It was the best two weeks. I learnt so much and gained so many skills such as analytical and team work. I feel much more comfortable with public speaking and networking - both which will be very useful.
Spend a lot of time (and effort) perfecting your application - it will be very much worth it in the end. The whole J.P. Morgan experience is invaluable and very rewarding.
