Performance & Capacity Architect Providing SLA Reports to the customer, whilst utilising technical skills to monitor the Performance of the system.
Developed skills on Unix, AIX, DB2, SQL, Perl, Shell and PHP.
I enjoy the programme to the extent that it challenges me and always gives me opportunities to improve both my technical skills and also building personal relationships.
I feel valued in the fact that both my Managers appeciate the work effort I put into my daily role. This also comes from recognition via feedback from peers, and the act I am a Subject Matter Expert in one department, meaning people come to me for problems. This in turn makes me feel more valued.
It is fairly well structured and organised. The induction was helpful, and the corresponding courses allowed me to build upon my client skills and building relationships. If I were to have one query it would be that perhaps it could be more technically bias, however I am speaking from someone who comes from a technical background and will obviously be bias towards this.
I receive good support from my Training Provider.
I receive good support from my Employer.
I feel that the salary is more than adequate for the current situation I find myself in. Although some of the skills I'm learning are perhaps more sought after and are therefore worth more, I completely understand the fact that I still have little experience.
One of the key aspects of the IBM Apprenticeship programme is that there are many opportunities outside of work. Infact, they encourage us to take part in producing giveback to the community, and visiting local colleges, schools and different events to promote both IBM as a company and the apprenticeship scheme itself.
Yes
Because of the excellent training opportunistic, the support and guidance from Foundation, the vast amount of skills that you learn, and also the people who work there. It is a fantastic scheme, which comes with a great overall package.
To be calm and really show what you can give to IBM. It's not all about academical skills; people skills and being able to work with a variety of people is just as, if not more important.
