When I was doing my work placement at pinsent masons, we had at least 1 presentation on different groups in pinsent masons e.g. corporate, litigation etc. After or before the presentations we were able to go to different aspects in the company and either help the solicitors with cases, research and learn what a trainee has to do.
Yes I have learned new skills into different aspects In law and what areas I feel best doing. I also gained a certificate saying I completed work experience which would look good on my cv's etc.
I enjoyed it a lot as the teams were all friendly and could have a good chat with you even though they have a lot of work with you. the teams gave me very helpful things to do daily and also just being in a well organised company such as pinsent masons made me realise I would rather be in a company like that.
I felt very welcome and that everyone was happy to help if I needed it, the solicitors were very good as they all came and introduced themselves and asked if I have any questions etc. I felt very valued in the week I done my placement
the programme was very well organised as when ever we had a presentation it was already set up and waiting for us to come in, we were never waiting. the teams also had everything ready for us coming in and we were never sitting about doing nothing
I received a lot of support. if I needed help with something the trainees and the solicitors were more than happy to give me a hand they never made me feel unwelcomed or that I was annoying them, they always made sure I would understand rather than leaving me to understand myself
I mostly worked with the trainees but sometimes the solicitors which I believe I am very privileged to get asked to do things for actually came and spoke and helped me with the work they gave me
I never got paid for my placement, but they provided me with food Monday and Tuesday then gave me a £5 gift voucher for a café each day for the rest of the week and the café was very good.
I never went out on any events etc. was meant to go to court with the litigation team but it got cancelled in the morning.
Yes
it is a very good and a well organised company which has a lot of different aspects that you can sail in which is an amazing experience.
I would not really give them any advice except from transport, to get in and out it cost me £10 a day to get a train, but everything else is very good and would love to go back
