Maintenance of broadcast equipment, providing good customer service for internal customers in Sky and providing 24/7 support. We cover several buildings at Sky and many different types of equipment!
Yes, I am currently studying Level 5 HND in Electrical/Electronic Engineering as well as a Level 4 Broadcast Services BTEC qualification. I go to college 2 days a week and work at Sky 3 days a week. This is an equal balance which I think is fair. As well as this, they pay for courses and training for me to develop my skills and knowledge.
I enjoy coming to work, the team I work in is energetic and fun. The work I do here is the similar to what I do at home! I love it! I didn't expect it to be as fun as it is which is a nice surprise.
Sky take care of me in many different ways, from verbal appreciation to prizes and discounts. Every time something good is done, there will almost every time be a positive word from the manager and colleagues.
We have regular meetings to ensure that I am on track and that everything is organised accordingly. We have a structure to go by and try to meet them on the deadlines in order to maximise knowledge.
My training provider is there when I need them and they generally sort the issue out as soon as possible. They generally are in control of the college side of things if there are any issues.
My employer is there all of the time, even personal issues, they will listen to everything and do what they can. They are always very understanding and will allow time if you need it.
My salary is good for where I am, especially on top of all the extras I get! It also increases on the apprenticeship I am on and will depend on my performance when I finish.
We go celebrate quite regularly if the team has done something well or for birthdays for example which is good. We know when to have fun and when we need to work!
Yes
It's a great, fair and equal company to work for which supports you all the way. If you are looking for a fun job in this environment then I definitely would recommend it. There are stressful times, but there are many more fun times!
Try to come knowledgeable about the company and the role. Try to get as much work experience as possible and come well dressed and professional. There may be a few interviews before you get it but be positive and confident.
