Platform control at sky are first line of support team for on demand content from sky. This involves doing checks to ensure content is running smoothly on different platforms.
Yes. Since starting i have learnt about the different departments within sky and what they do. I have also developed my personal skills such as speaking to others.
I enjoy the new role that I have started as it is something that is completely new to me. The course also met my expectations well and there were no surprises.
I feel very valued at sky as people have been there a lot and offered lots of help with starting out. There has always been somebody to answer a question when unsure.
I think the programme is well structured as it offers time in 4 different working environments. This allows me to get a good overview about everything that goes on in broadcasting.
The training provider provides lots of support such as offering training days and workshops to help settle in. There are also monthly meetings with an assessor to manage progress.
I receive quite a lot of support from the employer. My managers are very helpful as they help me with things such as finding places at work, performing new tasks. Their attitude towards supporting me is good as they have frequently said any questions just ask, and never seem to be annoyed or irritated when asking lots of questions.
The salary is great it covers living costs, travel costs, daily costs and social costs. The location is close to my home and it does not take long to travel to work.
There are a few events I am aware of outside of work such as skills days and I have been asked if I would like to volunteer which is good.
Yes
I believe it is a great place to work with many benefits and opportunities for staff to move around within the company. The location is also very nice and the buildings and working environments are new and clean.
Make sure you look presentable on the interview/assessment days. Be friendly and open minded, do not have a negative attitude about anything. Make sure you are on time to any dates in the application process. I would have like to have been told more about my job role during the application process.
