As a work experience student I was placed in four different teams during the week that I spent at the firm. I was introduced to team members upon arrival and set tasks to do which I found very interesting. I was tasked with exercises that trainee solicitors and paralegals often undertake.
I have learnt more about how the law is applied and completed a business exercise early in the week. This exercise was something completely new to me and helped me to evaluate situations from a commercial perspective.
I thoroughly enjoyed the programme as everyone at the firm was very welcoming and gave me work to do that made me feel useful to the team I was with.
I feel that Pinsent Masons valued the work experience students a lot. This is due to the fact that a lot of organisation, planning and effort appeared to have gone into the week and it was very impressive how structured, organised and informative everything was
The programme was very well structured, with a timetable provided at the beginning of the week and if anything changed we were emailed on our temporary email addresses set up by the firm. There was an induction on the first day with an office tour and IT induction which were helpful.
All the trainees that supervised me were very welcoming and happy to help with any queries that I raised. The general attitude to supporting the work experience students was very positive as a lot of effort was put in to accommodate us.
Pinsent Masons provided a lot of information prior to the start of the programme and as it was taking place. The HR team were very helpful and gave and induction at the beginning of the programme which was good.
The programme was unpaid but that was fine as it was only for a week. I got the train to commute to the office and the deli in the building was subsidised.
There were opportunities to go out for lunch and socialise and on the final day (dress-down Friday) it was mentioned that there would be drinks after work.

Pinsent Masons provided an excellent work experience programme that was very accommodating to the students and everyone at the firm was lovely and very helpful.
