As an apprentice admin/business developer, I complete all admin related paperwork, also sourcing stock to complete orders in time and creating good relationships with employees at other depots. Answer the phone politely and help them with their questions to the best of my ability. Helping customers and joiners at the trade counter and creating good relationships with them.
The apprenticeship has gave me experience of the working environment which I did not have when I was first looking for a job. It will help me in the future with other jobs that I may apply for.
The general work was easy to learn and picked it up fairly quickly. The workplace has a good atmosphere and have close friendships with everyone I work beside.
There is a different role for everybody within the depot, so everyone is needed in order for a day to run properly.
We have a trainer that comes in to see us every month or so to see how we are getting on and if we are improving well or not.
If we struggle with certain parts of the course, our trainer will do their best to help us with it.
I have a really good relationship with my manager. He has always supported me with anything that I have struggled with and understands if it ends up affecting my performance at work.
Apprentice wages aren't the best wages in the world but I manage with them. It helps with the fact I still live with my mum too so it doesn't cost as much as it would living on my own.
We have work night outs occasionally which is always fun and a good laugh.

Howden's has good prospects for a future career and helps with gaining experience in the workplace.
It was a fairly easy process to apply, received a phonecall from the apprenticeship company who I had a telephone interview with then they passed my details onto Howden's who then asked me to come in for an interview and was offered the job the next day. it was a very quick process.
