I am a bid and project managment apprentice with Thales, I work alongside a programme manager who is in charge of multiple projects. I am responsible for tasks on both bids, like proposals and estimates. As well as project manager tasks such as finance sheets and progress meetings.
I have become much more confident within myself since starting my apprenticeship, I find it much easier to introudce myself to new people and talk in front of groups, something that I used to struggle with in the past. Furthermore my orgainisation of time has improved much more since starting, project managment has made me realise how important managing your time really is.
I really eonjoy working at Thales my collegues are very friendly and easy to talk to. The main reason that I decided to work with Thales are the projects that Thales work on. Sonar and radar and other military equipment are thigs that I find very interesting.
I feel extermely valued withing the workplace, the project manager that I am assigned to ensures that I am always occupied with various tasks. I am inivted along to customer visits so I make myself known when these opportunities arise. At visits to other Thales sites I have been introduced to memebers of senior managment
The organisation of my time for the next 18 month shas been very clear to me.
Thus far I have had only has one meeting with my assesor from the training provider, who seemed as though he would be supportive to me
I have recieved alot of support form Thales, the project manager that I have been assigned to ensures that I always understand what is going on in meetings and gives me a background to the tasks that I am working on.
My salary ensures that all of my expenditure is covered, especially considering car insurance premiums for young males such as myslef are high, I can cover this with my salary.
There are many social events after work, there are comaony five a side football meets and annual christmas functions.
Yes
The line of work is very interesting with no two days being the same, Thales although the age structure is very top heavy ensures that all young people in the business are valued just as highly.
Be patient, the onboarding process with Thales is a long one. Not that this is Thales' fault but the process of initially gaining securtiy clearance is a lengthy one.
