I work in the finance management function at the UK/I HQ building reporting tools that different departments and functions can use to optimise their roles.
I have learnt many new skills. From simple business behaviours to advanced computer use and software skills that have made me a more rounded individual.
I enjoy my programme a lot. There is always a variance in work and the team I work in is very supportive and friendly. The company is warm and welcoming and everybody is happy to sit down and help you out. (there is free ice cream)
I feel very valued because I have a large degree of independence whilst still receiving enough support to ensure I don't make huge mistakes. I feel like my opinions and inouts are valued throughout the team and the overall business.
The programme is well structured with three reporting authorities who I can contact for support. There is always someone to point you in the right direction or help you to improve.
I receive a bit of support from my training provider. I meeting with them once a month but am in constant email contact with them. They always reply quickly with relevant help
I receive not much support from the employer because there are around 50 apprentices in the region and only one person to contact them all which means that there isn't much opportunity for discussions.
I live on my own on the south west edge of London and I am comfortable but slightly stretched with my money but I definitely have enough to live and do most of the things I want to do.
There are always days that you can take out of the office to volunteer of take part in company activities such as organised bike rides or gatherings.
Yes
Because it is a brilliant place to build a career or to gain a huge amount of experience working in one of the biggest businesses in the world. It gives you a perspective of the working world and the different skills you will need.
Be confident but not cocky. Do not present to them on one of their products because you do not know as much as they do on that topic. Always use appropriate business behaviours because they are very important to Unilever.
