At ITTS I am a database and IT systems admin, my usual role within ITTS is uploading data into databases for the telemarketers to call, but I am also starting the role of first line support and have some projects like learning HTML for the website and modifying the current database so it is easier to load data and looks clearer for the telemarketers.
I have learnt many different skills during my apprenticeship, I have been on external training with escalla and completed MTA awards and also been given the chance to have some further training in SQL with another training provider. My overall IT knowledge has improved, communication, confidence, work ethic and understanding have greatly improved
I enjoy my job role greatly all my colleagues are nice welcoming and have made me fell very welcome and part of the team very quickly, ITTS met all my expectations and exceeded them having already sat one apprenticeship in IT and being run very poorly it felt like i had made the best decision to leave and come to ITTS.
All staff at Escalla were very nice, helped when we needed it, we always had someone helping in our tuition and learnt a lot in a short space of time.
The organisation could be a part I would suggest and improvement in, where certain weeks were broken into a few days. Although I know that there are a lot of apprentices with escalla and that it is a while before i finish my year course at escalla but I haven't received any feedback for my course work I have completed at home or in my workplace.
A lot of support is given to apprentices from escalla, anything you need to ask them during centre time or out of centre they are just and email away.
ITTS have been a great help in teaching me new skills, anything that I didn't quite get in training wasn't hesitated upon helping me figure it out. They have given me time to complete certain part of course work and have noticed I was struggling with SQL so sent me on a fundamental course with QA.
Although the salary doesn't seem like much it is more than enough to live of but it does mean I still live from home, With my last apprenticeship i was earning just about half what i am earning now so it has improved greatly although there isn't much room for saving but you have to think of it as training you are getting paid for to complete and experience that will help you on further in life.
There isn't much in the way of company events apart from around Christmas and new year but there are more thing around the offices which i take part in such as classes at the gym and a 5 a side football team.
Yes
Escalla was a massive improvement from my last apprenticeship, the training they provide is great and has taught me a lot, but I would recommend to people who could drive or live closer as we are quite far away by public transport
Don't panic everyone is really nice and just want to get you a job and help, prepare well for interviews and get friends or family to test you on interview skills. If you know what sort of assessment you are doing in training for a week then a bit of prior reading the week before would suit well just to get some vague idea what you will be covering.
